Born 10 September 1970 in Rubtsovsk, Altai Region.

Elena A. Yurina graduated from the Faculty of Philology Tomsk State University (TSU) in 1992 in the specialty «Russian language and literature». from 1994 – assistant professor (senior teacher), from 1998 – Associate professor, from 2006 – Professor of the Department of the Russian language on the Faculty of Philology TSU. In 2016 Elena A. Yurina took an academic tittle of Professor of «Russian language».

She holds courses in «Word-building in modern Russian language», «Morphology of modern Russian language», «Theoretical morphology», «Speech culture and business communication», «Theoretical stylistics», «Practical and functional stylistics», «Russian as a foreign language».

She has served as an advisor of several completed Ph.D. dissertations in specialties 10.02.01 – Russian language and 10.02.20 – comparative-historical, typological and contrastive linguistics.

She serves as a deputy chairman of the Dissertation Council D 212.267.05 at Tomsk state university.

She is one of the editors of the scholarly journals "Russian Journal of Lexicography", "Language and culture" included into RSCI and Web of Science.

Elena A. Yurina is the Honorary professor of Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University, Republic of Kazakstan (2011). She was awarded Tomsk oblast prize in the sphere of Education and science (1998, 2003, 2015), TSU prize (1993, 1996, 2001). She received the medal «For Service to Tomsk state university» (2007), the Diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science RF (2017).
